The passage of Tropical Wave number 9 through western Venezuela has caused heavy rains that led to flooding and landslides in the states of Barinas, Mérida, Trujillo, and Táchira. Local and national authorities agree that this has been the strongest rain episode of the season in the Andean region. In response to this situation, on 25 June, the government activated the "Andes 2025" Emergency Plan.
