| Comments: | In the aftermath of the ‘strife-crisis' that broke out, on 7th October 2023, between Hamas and Israel, Cyprus began to receive Third Country Nationals (TCNs), who were being evacuated from the region, on several occasions. Due to the escalation of the tension, during the past weeks (after 25 October 2023), the Government of Cyprus expressed its fears that a surge of evacuation waves would be imminent from the neighbouring countries such as Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. It has been conveyed that up to 100,000 TCNs (and by extent through their respective Embassies) may use Cyprus as a transit (LINK). Already military troops from several countries i.e., USA, Germany and the Netherlands are already in place in Cyprus, waiting to take action in the area, if needed. |
