Tropical Cyclone Yasi crossed the Queensland Coast as a category 5 cyclone just before midnight on 2 the 2nd February. No reports of fatalities or serious injuries have been reported.
The towns of Ingham, Tully and Cardwell sustained significant damage to housing and infrastructure. Innisfail have also been affected although to a lesser extent. Other stateshave also been affected as reported below.
The cyclone has been weakening since making landfall and was downgraded to a category 1 system at 4pm on 3 February. Damaging winds and possible flash flooding in and around Mt Isa are expected as the cyclone moves inland.

Bornholm's news stations went offline, and hundreds of residents found themselves unable to venture outdoors because of the extensive snowfall. Many people had to spend days in sports halls and similar temporary housing facilities, as roads around the island became impassable. In response to the crisis, emergency centers were established to provide assistance with medication, food, and other necessities. The cost of emergency snow removal amounted to a total of 7.2 Million USD. |
