Flood,Nepal: GDACS - Medium humanitarian impact in for Nepal.Disaster authorities in Nepal reported severe flooding in areas of Bagmati Province in late August 2026. Local media in China also reported incidents in Gyirong County, Shigatse, Tibet Autonomous Region. Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said preliminary analysis of satellite images showed that an ice-and-rock landslide about 20 km northeast of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing caused a debris-laden flood in the Lhende River. Nepal's Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) said satellite images showed that debris had blocked the river, forming a temporary lake which later burst. The resulting flood travelled downstream through the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers. DHM also reported that there had been no heavy rainfall in the area before the flood. The assessments remain preliminary. A similar event occurred in this area on 08 July 2025.
